The Miracle of Another Year of Life

triberg-waterfallsTo begin our enchanting adventure in 2013, I offer these beautiful words of wisdom from Walt Whitman:

I believe a leaf of grass is no less than the journey-work of the stars,

And the pismere is equally perfect, and a grain of sand, and the egg of the wren,

And the tree-toad is the a chef-d’-ouvre for the highest,

And the running blackberry would adorn the parlors of heaven,

And the narrowest hinge in my hand puts to scorn all machinery,

And the cow crunching with depress’d head surpasses any statue,

And a mouse is a miracle enough to stagger sextillions of infidels.

From Earth Prayers From Around the World by Elizabeth Roberts and Elias Amidon

When we can see the enchantment in life all around us, how can we have anything less than a miraculous year in 2013!

Looking forward to a year blessed with enchanting life for all of us on planet earth!

  1. …And the narrowest hinge in my hand puts to scorn all machinery,
And the cow crunching with depress’d head surpasses any statue,… These two lines are such perfect examples of the magnificence of all the seemingly random and even small things that surrounds us…my children lau at me when I open the door and then run back to get my iPhone because they know I’m taking another picture of the clouds and the wonderful colors of the morning or evening sky… Thank you Karen!!! alexandra
