A Wave of Easiness Rising in the World

A Wave of Easiness Rising in the World

green meadowA quote I saw this morning from Martha Beck inspired me and I want to share it with you:

I think that a wave of easiness is rising all over the world. Does it mean that
people are not suffering or experiencing enormous difficulty? Of course not. But
it may mean that even solving the problems of the destitute is meant to be an
easier task than we believe. It may mean that the everyday labors of our lives
are being facilitated by something that is teaching us to use our striving,
tenacity, and grit to do things so huge and beautiful that they have never been
possible before.

Martha Beck

I believe Martha is right, and am doing my best to ride this wave.  How about you?  Do you see life getting easier in many ways? I believe it really is easier to live well now than at any other time in human history.

Also, our perception about the ease in our life can also make a huge difference in our happiness.

In many ways, we get to choose being at ease no matter what our circumstances.

Today’s Contemplation:

Do you think it’s possible that a wave of easiness is rising all over the world despite the tales of woe we regularly see in the news?

  1. I think for everything bad, their is something equally good. So yeah, just depends on the direction your looking in I guess….

      1. I try to also, makes me feel better, sometimes I slip back into being negative, but I just listen to a lot of self help audio books to get me out of it.

    1. I’ve just started reading a book from Harvard psychologist Steven Pinker about how violence has declined. I think that overall decline in violence is linked to the optimistic peaceful outlook hat you mention. 🙂

  2. I think there’s been a wave of change building for a long time — but if you look at the news and the “normal” view you can’t see it. It’s in these blogs, in Yoga Journal, Inquiring Mind, etc. that I see the subculture that is quietly shifting the paradigm in the background.

  3. Fascinating quote, Karen. And I must say that I’m not sure how to react to it. There is still such a wave of pessimism and distrust (thinking of governmental issues here) that I am not feeling a collective “ease” anywhere. Personally, I feel that life can be easier than we make it–in many ways, but around me, I don’t see that happening. I really respect Martha Beck and I want to understand more of what she’s saying here. I love that you’ve given me something to “chew on” today. Maybe it will come to me! 🙂

  4. I think I must be in a severe trough right now haha. On a more serious note, I think you’re right – there is choice in whether we catch that wave or not. Whether we grab it and ride forward or wallow in despair is up to us.
