It’s Never Too Late to Enjoy Your Life!

The Eiffel Tower on a beautiful sunny day in Paris
Last year we saw the Eiffel tower!

It’s that time of year again, when I like to plan our family travels. It’s about this time last year, that we decided that we would travel to Europe last summer. That was an excellent decision, and a wonderful adventure.  My mother once again is showing me that it is never to late to have some fun.

This year is my mother’s 85th birthday.  And my mom thought it would be a great idea to travel with my brother and me to some place special on that day.  For a long time, she couldn’t decide where to go, because she has been to so many places, and isn’t quite up to going to Australia and New Zealand where she would really like to visit.

This year my mom would like to see Las Vegas!
This year my mom would like to see Las Vegas!

This week, she came up with her destination of choice to celebrate her birthday – Las Vegas, Nevada.

She has never been there before, and she would like to see the shows and do a little gambling.

I hadn’t seen this idea coming, but my mother is still wanting to have a lot of fun, and thankfully, healthy enough for the trip.

My mom would love to take the boys on an East Coast adventure this year. We all would like to visit NYC. The boys have never been there!

We actually have another trip idea with my boys.  I think we’re going to do a bit of sweeping tour of New England and Quebec.  We want to fly to New York City and then drive to West Point in memory of my Dad.  Then travel up to Montreal then Quebec City and  back to the U.S.through Maine with a visit to Acadia National Park, then through Boston and Cape Cod and ending back in NYC.

We may have a busy travel time in June once again!

My work adventures continue to evolve. From an eco-project standpoint, I’m continuing to work with the National Water Center in Arkansas, and more locally on a Home Composting initiative for the City of Aurora, Sustainable Aurora Board.  I’m also developing some retreats focused around natural cycles of growth in life and business, that I hope to be able to release in the second half of this year. As all these projects grow and expand, I’ll be sharing what I’m learning with you.

Hope you are all having a wonderful start to 2015!  I would love to hear about your plans for travel, work, and fun in the upcoming year!

    1. Sara,Tasmania would be very cool! I fantasize about visiting Australia some day! I am way behind on reading blogs since early December, but I’d love to hear about your trips to Byron Bay, if you happen to blog about them!

      1. Oh yes, I am sure I will 🙂 In February Elizabeth Gilbert is coming to Byron Bay to speak, so that’s the first trip, and the second one is in August for the writers festival. Fun!

  1. I love Nevada. A few years ago, I got to trek it from Las Vegas to Reno. It was a fabulous trip. One of my lifetime favorites! Ah, the sky is incredibly blue. I’ll make a list of our stops. Actor Jimmy Stewart stayed in one of the hotels, located in Ely, Nevada. There’s a plaque on the door. The Hotel Nevada! Yes, that’s the name. It’s super funky. Clean. And affordable. Happy New Year! ~Theadora

    1. Theodora,

I have never been to Las Vegas, and just briefly passed through Nevada, so it’s great to hear that you had such a fun adventure! I’ll have to check out the Hotel Nevada! I hadn’t really thought of going to Las Vegas this year, but now that my mom came up with the idea, I am getting more excited about it. I love the western part of the United States, and it’s really about time that I visited Las Vegas!

Happy New Year to you too!

  2. I’d like to explore the New England states some more. We’ve been to Quebec, it’s a lot of fun I think. I love NYC too. We went to Las Vegas once, the “old vegas” area is more fun for gambling because they actually let you win once in a while. I liked driving out into the desert too.

    1. I used to work at IBM a long time ago, and every so often I would get a chance to travel to Quebec. I used to love visiting in Montreal and staying at a quaint auberge in Quebec. This was in the 1980’s. So, it would be nice to see Quebec again now.

I’ll keep that tip in mind about old vegas, because it might be nice to win a little. We don’t expect to win. My mom is more interested in the shows and just to say she’s been there.
